It is learnt that in the first half of this year, patent applications in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province continue to keep growth momentum, reaching 3,514 pieces with a rise of 49.72%. Of these applications, invention patent applications were 1,119 pieces, up 86.81%. And the average amount of invention patent applications for one million people was 717, ranking the second in the province, only after Shenzhen City.

The patent application components in Zhuhai were further optimized. The proportions of applications for invention patents and utility model patents went up while the proportion of applications for design patents dropped. 

In recent years, the IPR creation capability of Zhuhai enterprises was gradually enhanced. In the first half of the year 2010, Zhuhai enterprises filed 3,033 pieces of patent applications, accounting for 86.3% of the gross of the whole city, higher than the year-on-year number 83.2%.

In the first six months, Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai filed 1,490 pieces of patent applications, rising by 148% and taking up 42% of the gross of the city. Among these applications, invention patent applications were 562 pieces, increasing by 456% and accounting for 50% of the gross of the city. [Chinese version is available on SIPO.gov.cn]
